I Attacked It, Leaving Little Evidence... #wordlesswednesday

So I took a picture of the orange peels and apple core as a symbol of me eating healthier and losing weight, and today, as I'm looking over my wordless wednesday, I'm laughing, because accompanying that picture is the pumpkin pie, and the huge bag of ghirardelli caramel squares that I attacked, leaving little evidence of..
 Happy Wednesday!

I'm giving away money for your opinion to a question on my Top Ten Tuesday post. Would love your input!

If you haven't heard of Wordless Wednesday by now, it's practiced by many people around the web. It's where you can post any sort of picture you choose, without any words, and let the picture speak for itself.  I encourage you to join in, it's actually a lot of fun!
These Photos were taken using the IPhone Instagram app. The collage is made using BigHugeLabs Mosaic maker. I'm on Instagram as ICStarzz. I got this awesome idea from

Top Ten Ways to Make a Memorable New Years Party!

One of my favorite times of the year is almost here! Time to say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new!
What a great excuse to get a party going and celebrate the new year with my closest friends and family! I usually have a new years party every year because I like to have fun, have the ones I love together, and don't want to worry about how I'm getting home!
My friends are so awesome, too. They come mostly every year, unless they have to work, and they flatter me by telling me how excited they are for another one of my annual parties. It really is so much fun, so I thought I would share my top ten ways that I make my new years party special!
Here are my
Top Ten Ways to Make A Memorable New Year's Party!

10.
Good Music
Because the age of my company varies, I like to have a lot of different music. From Pink Floyd, Journey, to Green Day, and Rihanna.

9.

Great Hosts
I have to give some of my credit to my mom. I wouldn't be able to do it alone. Between me and her, we make a great team. I host everyone during the games and events, and she cleans up and gets things ready for the next activity. She deserves 10 pats on the back for her support and help. Without her, my party would  not run as smoothly as it always does.

8.
Good Food
Mom usually gets the food together. She likes to make veggies and dip, chips, meats, and more! I think this year we are going to label all of the food, but I remember a couple years ago, having a 'guess the dip for a prize' game. It was fun!

7.
Clean House
I don't know about you, but I like partying in a clean environment. If the house is trashed, I'm not really comfortable letting my guard down and relaxing. So I clean up around the house and have decorations up. I want people to feel comfortable here and to enjoy themselves.

6.
BYOB
If I could supply the booze for everyone, I would. But telling people to bring their own, makes sure that there's enough, and it's what people like. I tried to supply it one year, and we ended up running out, so i found, this is the best way it works. BUT, last year I made jello shots for everyone and I've already been asked to make them again this year. lol

5.
Fun Games
The biggest thing people rave about when it comes to my parties is my home made jeopardy game! I make a huge game with easy questions and tape it on the wall and separate everyone into groups. The team that wins, gets to pick a prize out of the prize box. ;)
This year I'm super excited for a new game I'm introducing everyone to. It's called the box of questions!

4.
Hospitable
My friends know that if they need a place to stay, they can stay here. I'm not encouraging anyone to drink and drive. If they don't have a DD, then I tell them, they are more than welcome to cop some couch here. And a lot of them do. One of the biggest reasons I host an annual party.

3.
Prizes
Yep, you heard it right. I offer prizes at my parties. lol Everyone laughs at me too when I say so, but they also get wicked excited when they win, too. When I first started hosting parties, I would get all my prizes from the dollar tree last minute. But I'm getting better at this, and I've been collecting all year, so I've got jewelry, dollar tree items, gift cards, food and more!

2.
Good Company
I feel awful when my friends ask to bring someone because I usually say no. It's another thing I've learned the hard way. Every time someone new comes into my home, something goes missing, or there's drama. But if I stick to the same handful of people, it usually turns out to be an awesome freakin party. What are your thoughts on guests?

1.
You can win paypal cash!
I couldn't think of the last one. But I was seriously wondering your thoughts on the guest thing. Do you think it's rude to say no to bringing guests?
Leave a comment with your opinion and your email and I'll pick someone Friday for a $5 paypal cash.

Have a great day!

Christmas is a time to feel happy, appreciative, and supportive, but often we feel depressed, lonely, and anxious. Why does it seem so hard to be happy?

Regardless of money problems, bad memories, and awkward family get togethers, getting through the holidays in one piece IS possible.

Top 10 Tips to Survive the Holidays

Toys I Would Not Buy

It's that time of year again when the magazines come in and become covered with circles, with children hopeful that the toys on the list will be there for Christmas.
The other day, while I was thumbing through the magazine, I couldn't help but notice that there's a few toys that are out of the question. Which brought me to today's top ten.

Toys I Would Not Buy

Ways You Can Donate

The holidays can be a hard time for many. Not just the holidays, but anytime. I'm sure you know at least one family that is struggling, have you ever wondered if there was anything you could do? Why not donate? 'Don't have any extra money' you say? There are many ways you can donate. Whether it be money, time, or things that you are already throwing out.

Operation Christmas Child 2011 #wordlesswednesday

I got a twitter message on my phone the other day while I was at work that brought a huge smile to my face. It said,

"I Will Kick Your A**" A Teacher Caught Bullying A Special Needs Student

That was on the news when I woke up this morning. A teacher was caught bullying and threatening a special needs child and it was caught on camera!
Children look up to teachers, and parents trust them to educate and guide their children and it really saddened me to see this video.

Have you packed your shoe box yet?

This week, I stumbled over to an awesome blog post reminding me about Operation Christmas Child. I had already gotten shoe boxes saved up and had asked friends to put aside some things to donate, but I just didn't have the date set to put everything together.
Now that I know the drop off date is less than a week away, I'm happy to be mostly prepared, but anxious to tie up the loose ends soon!

Top Ten Tips to Protect Yourself, Your Loved Ones, and Your Valuables!

With the economy, crime and violence continuously rising, it's no longer safe to leave your car and houses unlocked even in neighborhoods that were once safe.

Just last week, my friend's came home from work to find they'd been robbed. Someone had broken in through the doggy door and helped themselves to her jewelry.  It didn't seem like the dog had done anything to defend the house, but it was apparent that the robbers had left in a hurry for some reason.

The detectives took statements, collected a ton of fingerprints and spray painted footprints. They were very thorough.

The next day the thieves were caught at a local pawn shop when one of the investigating detectives was there retrieving my friend's jewelry.  They were trying to pawn someone else's stolen property. Unfortunately, the pawn shop owner had ripped all the stones out of the jewelry so it would be easier to sell making it impossible for some of the jewelry to be repaired. And there's a chance that the pawn shop owner may be in trouble for receiving and selling stolen goods.  At least there's a happy ending for my friends.

Thieves caught, security system now installed, good idea for a top ten.

My Email has been Hacked: What To Do

A few weeks ago, my yahoo account got hacked and I haven't been able to get into my email account using my computer since then. I've emailed yahoo about it but have heard nothing. Since my IPAD is still connected with my email, I can still check it, but people are still getting virus emails from this account, so now when I check my emails, I've started unsubscribing from websites and subscribing to the ones I still read using my other email account.

I'm back! {Top Ten}

It's been kind of hectic for me lately. I feel like there is so much on my plate, that I'm too overwhelmed to do anything. It's been so hard trying to keep my head above water, but I know I need to stay positive and looking ahead.
I've been spending a lot of time trying to adapt to the small changes I'm making, to better myself and my living situation, and even though plans are always subject to change, #10 Hunni and I have been talking about what steps we need to be taking to get some land to build on. It sounds like a lot of work and preparation, but I have to stay focused on the goal and what lies down the road. I know that when I get to where I want to be, these sacrifices I am making will seem so small, even though it doesn't seem like it right now.
#9 I've also been focused on finding more work, which I'm excited to say that I start my new job today! I'm an activities assistant in a nearby nursing home that I've been volunteering at for about a year now. I was hoping to continue to do a majority of the paperwork, but a more hands on job is ok for now, too.

#8 In addition to that, I got my hands on a copy of FrontPage (the one my dad wanted me to get so he can help me) and have been trying to teach myself how to build a webpage for my photography. It's extremely hard for me so far, but I can't give up. #7 Whenever I get too overwhelmed, I start editing more photos that I've set aside because editing is fun for me.

#6 I never have "extra" money. What exactly is "extra" money anyways? Every time I even get close to having everything paid up and ahead, something else happens that keeps our expenses the same, (or puts us in worse debt). I remember being so stressed out around Christmas last year and wasting money on meaningless things just trying not to show up places empty handed, that I decided on my New Year's Resolution right then. I would not be waiting until the last minute ever again. So I've got a tote with some things I've gotten at great deals the past couple months online.
For example, I convinced my friend to let me use her coupon for the free 16x20 poster from Walmart that expires 10/31 so I got two free posters, which means two people crossed off my list!

#5 Not only am I working on Christmas gifts, I'm working on getting a list prepared so I know how many people to send Christmas cards out to. It's been three or four years in a row now that my Hunni, Jake, and I get pictures done to send in our cards, not only because we have a lot of family that we don't see often, I just feel cards like that are more personable.

#4 I like to bake and give out treats also for Christmas, but I have to be thinking about how many and what I'm making because baking items add up quickly, so if I don't want our household to starve in December, I'll start getting some bakery items now.

#3 I was just given a bag full of shoe boxes and am excited to continue my new tradition to donate to Operation Christmas Child. If I can start preparing for it now, I wonder how many boxes I can fill?

#2 I haven't been doing much with my blog because I've been so overwhelmed with everything else, but if I don't want to lose readers, I really need to work harder at balancing everything out evenly.

#1 I am constantly trying to better myself and believe that this one should always be on my to do list. Working on my flaws and working at finding ways to care and help others.

I really do want to thank all of my readers for sticking with me and visiting my blog! So I would like to offer something special as a thank you!
I'm going to pick one lucky person who comments on my Wordless Wednesday post for a free photo editing on a couple of their photos!
Find out more here.

So there you have it, I'm back! Hopefully I can find a happy medium with everything. What have ya'll been up to?

-Samantha
