What Memorial Day means to me

Memorial Day is a day to remind people that they should be appreciative towards our fallen soldiers and to those who've put everything on the line for our freedom. It is important that we honor and celebrate them. Not just one day a year, but every day.

I'm not sure how I feel about celebrating with fireworks and candy at parades because I believe it gives a false message to our children. It's up to us to teach the younger generations what the true meanings of these days are.

Today at work, after we take the residents to the Memorial Day parade, a couple of them will want to visit the Veteran's Cemetery.

The white markers on each grave is a reminder to us that freedom isn't free. Take a moment of silence today and be thankful for the blood that was spilled on foreign grounds to protect our freedom and to protect against those who want to harm us.

I want to thank the veteran's and the families who've given a loved one to America, for our protection, our freedom. For everyone. I am forever grateful.

God Bless America, My Home Sweet Home.
