New to Couponing?

I have been couponing on and off for a couple years. I've managed to get great deals at Dollar Tree, Shaw's, and Walmart, but CVS is confusing. So I've asked a friend to take me shopping a few times to get the ECB (extra care bucks) understood well enough to shop on my own.

With the help of my friend and coupons of course, I've been able to snag 4 bottles of Suave shampoo/conditioner for around $2.00 OOP (out of pocket) and other things. (at CVS)

Now that Dollar Tree is accepting coupons, I've started searching more often for freebies and items under $.50.

A couple tips that helped get me started;

Here's how I get coupons:

  • I print them offline. There are a few websites that allow you to print coupons. Remember, you can print 2 per computer.
Here are the sites I frequent often:

Just because you have a coupon doesn't mean it's a great deal. I tend to skip the coupons that save $1 for 2 items. I'm looking for $1 off of 1 item, or any coupon under $1 for one item that I can take to Shaw's so they can double the value of the coupon.
Just the other day I had $.50 pudding coupons, that doubled to $1, and the pudding is originally $1, so I got it for free.. plus I had 8 like coupons so I got 8 free. (At Shaw's)

  • Earn money back by purchasing items you already buy with the Ibotta app

  • The Weekend newspaper. I see a lot of people say to get the fattest paper for the best deals, but I'm happy with my $1.25 paper. I buy 4 of them each week & sometimes get a couple extra from my family.

  • You could buy your coupons offline so you're not having to sift through a bunch of coupons you don't need, but I'm too nervous to buy coupons after I heard about people getting busted for coupon fraud after they bought coupons off of a website.  no thanks.

  • Facebook pages: I have liked A LOT of different companies and they randomly give out freebies and coupons.
For example, for the longest time, every Friday at 9am, Bounty would give out a $5 coupon to the first however many people.

So there's a couple tips and tricks for those who have wondered how I'm bragging about getting free/cheap things.
Why follow with me? Because I'm finding it frustrating to read other blogs and find out that there's this awesome deal that I'm missing out on because my surrounding stores don't carry the brand.
I've decided to start talking a little about couponing and how I do it, as I keep learning, so that the people in my area will have an easier time.

And one last thing. Just because I'm couponing doesn't mean I get everything for free. Cheap is good, too!

Good luck!

Even Jake loves coupons!
