Don't Forget About Color Balance and Levels!

When I bought a green backdrop for photography I figured it would be easier to work with than black or white, but so far, I'm not impressed...

Summer is almost here, and I've been slacking...

I'm still around. As I've stated before, April is always a busy month for me. I'm still catching up, but I should be close to caught up by the end of the month.

Red Carpet Birthday

Happy Wednesday! I'm still recuperating from last week's festivities. After the UBP I immediately started getting things ready for my annual birthday party!

Here's me wearing my birthday crown! I do it every year!

My meal from Olive Garden!

My mom gave me a $25 Olive Garden Gift Card so my hunni and I went out last Wednesday for dinner. I also had a $4 off 2 meals coupon! I don't remember what my meal was called but on the left there was shrimp Alfredo,  middle was fried shrimp, and the right was stuffed crab ravioli with red peppers. Everything was so yummy and it was great to get out.

Friday night was my party and because I have a photographer's studio I told everyone that there was a red carpet theme. I went out to the Thrift Store and bought myself a nice looking prom dress. The price was originally $25 but they were having a sale on everything with zippers so I snagged it for $15! yay! Birthday savings all around, right?

I had a room for photography and posing, another camera floating around the party, jeopardy, darts, jello shots, great food, dancing, and great company! It was a lot of fun!

The next night I went over to some friends house for a little celebration. We had White Sangria's and tons of finger foods! I even had a cake with a chandelier topper which was cute as hell!

It was such a great week, but with all the running around, it sure made it extra difficult to get back into the swing of things for this week.

Here's an photo of us from the party. We were originally in front of a green screen, but I've been teaching myself about digital photography on the side. Do you think I could get away with telling people we went to New York? hehe

Thanks for stopping by! Would love it if you left a comment with your link so I can return the visit!

April is a busy month

Now that the chaos is decreasing.... April is always such a busy month! Not only is it the month of the Ultimate Blog Party, it's also my birthday, and I usually hold an annual birthday party also. Makes for a lot of planning and running around! I think yesterday was the first time I've gotten to sit with everything done. No more preparations, just catching up.

Special Education Teacher Dies in Collision. Her Two Kids Were Transported With Injuries

I'm so sad to announce that this morning there was a fatal car crash that killed a special education teacher with School Administrative District60 in Berwick. SAD60 officials posted a notice on the district Web site confirming that Amy Harris, who worked at Vivian E. Hussey School, was killed in the accident. Her children, ages 7 and 4, were also in her car and were transported with injuries.

There will be no school on Thursday at Hussey or Knowlton schools. A crisis support team will be available from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hussey for staff and families. Representatives from the Center for Grieving Children will be on hand to assist school counselors and social workers, school officials said.

I believe these two schools have children around the ages 6-11 years old. The boy I provide care for attends one of these schools and has been working with this teacher for a few years. It makes me cry just knowing that these children might need grief counselors.

Which is why I wanted to write this.

Please remember that children experiencing grief may not know how to express themselves. They might start showing the following signs:
  •  Tearfulness
  • Dreams — some of them scary
  • Irritability
  • Clinging to you
  • Whiny moods
  • Complaints of stomachaches, headaches, etc.
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Change in appetite
  • More pronounced fears of death, darkness or walking home
  • Being alone
  • Regressive behaviors such as reverting to thumb-sucking, bed-wetting, etc.

Here's some ideas to help your child through the grieving process:
  • Let your child talk about the death or draw pictures of what he or she felt happened
  • Acquaint yourself with the grief process by reading a book on the subject
  • Use the correct language when talking about death; use “dead” instead of “passed on” or “We've lost her” or “she's gone to a better place”
  • Let them express their feelings
  • Offer them loving, touching support
  • Allow them to be sad and cry. It is OK to let them see you be sad and cry as well
  • Let your child ask questions and answer them as simply as you can
  • Talk about dreams as they happen. If you wait until morning, they may be forgotten
  • Reassure your child you are healthy, you are careful when you drive and you will be around for a long time

I will be lighting a candle tonight for Mrs. Harris, praying for her children trying to recover, and for her family and all those affected.

I ask that people show mercy towards the 17 year old who crossed the line with his vehicle and struck hers. He has to live with this for the rest of his life, and face charges so sending him hate is not going to help anyone.

Let's just focus all our positive energy into seeing that those children make it home from the hospital with minimum injuries!

Abbie, the 4 year old daughter is home as of Thursday. Luke, the 7 year old boy is still at the General Hospital but expected to make a full recovery.
The family has started up a trust fund for the children. Those wishing to donate to the Luke & Abbie Trust Fund may send checks made payable to
“The Abbie and Luke Trust Fund”
to the office of
Salmon Falls Nursery,

The Walking Dead - Rise of the Governor Book Review

Sleep While ReadingFirst let me say, that I don't have a lot of interest in reading. Books rarely keep my interest, and before i know it, I'm involuntarily falling asleep. I think the last book I read, which was a few years ago, consisted of me starting the book, falling asleep, waking up to read more, falling asleep, waking up, and so on until I was finally finished. BUT I have a confession to make.

Are You A No-Reply Blogger?

Apparently a 'no reply' blogger is someone who can't reply to a comment left on their blog because of a settings mishap from the comment leaver.. (click here to get help with that) but what about a blogger who just doesn't know what to say to the person commenting? Do you reply or email?
