Running in Color

Hey guys and gals!
Liz here, I wanted to start off by saying how happy I am to be apart of Kreative Karing!

So a couple months ago, I participated in the Color Run! They had it here in South Portland, Maine. It was a Saturday night and I was texting my mother. I had just worked 24 hours in the last two days, I was exhausted. My mother wanted to know if I wanted to participate in the color run the next day, someone had dropped out. I was debating whether or not I would go. I knew it would be fun, but I was so tired. Either way, I was going to go and see my mom and my sister; even if it was just to support them. I figured I might as well. I grabbed a white shirt and wore crappy shoes and shorts.

I then drove to South Portland and met up with my mom, sister, and people from their work. Everyone was so excited! There was a ton of free stuff-water bottles, coconut water (which apparently tasted nasty, I didn't try it), granola bars, etc. After that, the group split up. There were a couple runners that went their own way and then there was the big group of walkers. We waited for 10-15 minutes in line with a million other people. They were letting people go in sections. People were throwing their packets of color and we were getting squirted by the DJ/VJ/Host guy (who happened to be mega attractive!). It was then our time to go. We started walking. The Color Run was being hosted at Southern Maine Community College and that campus is super super hilly. By the time we got to the first color, I was pooped! The first color was yellow. The people who were throwing the color were completely covered! It was crazy and so exciting! The next color was red, then orange, pink, and blue. When I got to the blue (the last color!) one of the people who was throwing the color yelled, "why so blue?" then threw the color at me. I died. I tried so hard not to laugh, mostly because I was keeping my mouth closed. That color tasted nasty! We finally finished. At the end of the 5k (which I always thought was 5 miles-it's actually 3.something!) there was this giant dance party. At certain points the DJ/VJ/Host guy would have everyone throw their color at the same time. I only stayed for it once, it was fun to be in, but I couldn't breathe or see! Afterwards we all decided to go into the ocean. It was in walking distance. So some of us were soaking wet, freezing, and colorful. That's when we decided to go out to lunch. We went to Chili's for lunch, let's just say it was hilarious because we were all in color!

It was definitely a ton of fun, and I'm really glad that I participated. I don't think I'll ever do it again, but it's definitely something I would recommend to anyone to at least do once!
